Jerry Hayes is holding a meeting in the Talbot soon to discuss the possible revival of the village morris side.

Uplyme Morris performed for 5 years in the 1990's at village events and also further afield including the popular "Uplyme Morris World Tour of Exmoor".

There is more information and some pictures of the side on pg. 132-133 of the excellent "Book of Uplyme" by Gosling and Thomas.

If anyone would like more information please contact Jerry on 446011, or by email at jeremy.hayes@mac.com.

Geoff.

Well, we had a small get-together last Friday at the Talbot, and were all reasonably encouraged. It seems there is enough enthusiasm at least to explore the possibillty of a revival.

We do, however, need a few more members, so are on a bit of a recruitment drive for the next few weeks. If we get a favourable response, we decided to reconvene (at the pub, of course!) some time in February to decide how to take things further. I'll post the date some time later.

We're looking for male dancers, and musicians too.

If anyone wants any more information, or has any suggestions or comments, feel free to post them here or give me a ring on 07968 959298.

The newly reformed UPLYME MORRIS met again last night at the Talbot for an introductory practise session.

Six 'good men and true' assembled in the skittle alley and were introduced to basic Morris Dancing technique. Progress was suspiciously fast and I suspect that most of these 'beginners' are actually lapsed Morris Pros Smile

We are still recruiting members - dancers and musicians, so if you think you may be interested, contact Jerry Hayes on 07968 959298.
