May I bring to your attention the fact that a new cycling group (The Axe Valley Pedallers) has been set up in the Axe Valley. Since January 2005 the group has met every 2nd Sunday of each month (next meet is scheduled for Sunday October 9th 2005) and each Thursday evening.

While the principle aim of the group is to raise the profile of cycling in the Axe Valley area, its primary purpose is to get those who enjoy cycling, both young and old, to come together on a social basis, and share a most enjoyable recreational pursuit in a wonderful area on the East Devon/West Dorset border.

The groups “official” base is the Kings Arms public house in Colyford Road Seaton. This is where we meet each Thursday evening (6.30pm) for a leisurely ride which can be as long or as short as those who turn up want it to be, never forgetting that we meet up within the pub from 8.45pm onwards to enjoy each others company.

There is no joining fee as the group is run on a very informal basis with the emphasis on simply enjoying cycling, while at the same time feeling fit and healthy.

In June at the start of National Bike Week over 50 cyclists turned out for a selection of 3 rides Exclamation

If anyone is interested in coming along to our weekly or monthly rides please contact Darren Rogers on 01297 24942 or Alistair Cope on 01297 625375. If you can’t make the rides then why not pop into the Kings Arms pub every Thursday from 8.45pm for a drink and a chat Question
