Apologies for the delay; it's been a busy week in school.....

Shocked That's how both teams felt when we came off the pitch. The point hasn't really done either side any favours, and the final trudge off from all of us pretty much sums up how we are feeling.
Our season feels like it is running along a Dan-Brown-writing-frame predictability. As usual, we were hit with 2 early goals of immense stupidity and lack of focus. Chard played it sensibly out on the wide areas, as the middle was a pitted mess. Only days before, the Fox got the tractor stuck there, so there wasn't much hope of a smooth surface on which we could play our way back in.
But battle we did, and went into half time level, through a double from Joel. His first was the best- cutting inside and shooting past the keeper from just inside the box. This meant the half time talk was better than it might have been.

Rolling Eyes But did we listen to it? After piling on the pressure down the hill, we again conceded 2 stupid goals, and the season was ebbing away. We threw everything forward. My in-swinging corner was headed off the line, Batey struck the foot of the post, Jim Preston had a shot headed off the line, and Fox had a chance that on any other day would have been buried. Yet, 4 2 it stayed, until - possibly- the last minutes of the game. We were awarded a free kick just in the Chard half, and their goalkeeper had shown signs of uncertainty all game. I decided to plant it on him, and hope that an attacker would run across his path and divert it. The Fox did just that, and got his eyebrows to it, for 4 3.
The final goal was deja vu; similar position and idea, but this time the goalkeeper- probably expecting the run across him, palmed it into the roof of the net (Apologies to Shenan at this point for celebrating wildly in his face). It felt good to get the slaps and screams from the boys after it went in; that's how we need to feel more often.
Before the end, we had an almighty scramble in their area to try and seal a brilliant win, but it wasn't to be ; and that was probably a fair thing, too.

Our form against those teams around us is poor, but the boys at the top are always telling us how good we play. We will have to, this week. Winsham away. They are possibly the strongest, most physical side in the league, so anything we can get will be a MASSIVE bonus.
There are still games against Chard Rangers, Thorncombe, Lyme Reverses and Chard United to come. Shocked How important do those sound, now?
A Players' Player of the Season will have to be chosen soon.
Stand up and be counted now, boys................. Wink
