Uplyme held what they hope will become an annual memeorial football match on Sunday 15th April.
A large crowd turned up to cheer on Uplyme Veterans against the Talbot Arms Eleven. The game was in memory of Frank Bowditch who was chairman and manager for over 30 years.
The game was played in good humour and saw veteran Martin Edwards playing along side his son Tim (both who played under Franks management). Other players that donned their boots in memory of their former manager included Pete Lowe, Phil Hodder, Steve Gardner, Richard Spiller, Jeff Fisher and Geoff Matthews. All enjoyed the game which saw burst of their former youthful playing days.
Gavin Fowler welcomed Jonathan Bowditch to the game, and asked him to present the cup in memory of his Dad to the Talbot Arms Eleven, who won after a penalty shoot out.
The game and raffle raised over £300 which will be donated to Cancer Research.

A super day, super weather. There were quite a few hangovers lolling around on that pitch.
Well done to "Ron Coomber"- captain fantastic. Uplyme's captaincy awaits..... |
