|MATCH REPORT – SUNDAY 21 OCTOBER
COLYTON U13’S 2 UPLYME YOUTH 2
Uplyme took the lead after nineteen minutes with a long range dipping shot from Anthony Simes which cleared the keeper and dropped into the far corner of the goal.
Colyton levelled four minutes later following sloppy defending when Uplyme failed to clear the ball.
There were further good efforts from both sides with particular strong runs from Uplyme’s Josh Armytage. Kyle Knight was put through for Uplyme four minutes before the break but shot just over the bar.
Five minutes into the second half Simes hit the bar following a cross from Knight. Connor Pemberton then had to clear off the line for Uplyme before Colyton regained the lead ten minutes into the second half.
There then followed sustained pressure from Uplyme but they could not break through the Colyton defence until with eight minutes remaining Simes was brought down in the area and Armytage equalised from the penalty spot. Uplyme pressed for a winner in the closing stages but had to settle for a draw. The Uplyme man of the match award went to Anthony Simes.
Uplyme’s next match is away to Ottery St Mary in the quarter finals of the Chairman’s Cup ko 1030am on Sunday 28 October.
