|Tight but a clear win in the end
Exmouth Eagles 1 Uplyme 3
Another League win for Uplyme U13 last Sunday at home against Exmouth Eagles.
Uplyme won the toss and captain Sam Jones chose to play uphill but they didn’t get into gear for many minutes. Thus Exmouth had most of the play testing Uplyme’s defence – but it held up well and although Uplyme’s keeper, Henry Perry, had a lot or work to do there were no serious threats on goal. Uplyme’s few chances at the other end were mostly created by the boot of Anthony Simes. This tight play left the score sheet clean at half time.
With the downhill run in the second half Uplyme came out reenergised but it was Exmouth who took advantage and scored after 6 minutes after an uncharacteristic goal mouth muddle..
A minute later Uplyme’s Tom Chapple got a decent shot in but it took a further twenty minutes before Kyle Knight got a well-earned goal. With their spirits up Uplyme took the play resulting in two more goals in quick succession, Brett James and Jack Heath were the scorers. The final score was 3 – 1 to Uplyme.
The referee judged Uplyme’s Man of the Match to be jointly won by Simes and Jack Heath. Uplyme Youth’s next match is away to Exmouth Town next Sunday 18th November at 10.30 am.
