By way of the grapevine I have the following information.

Footpath Meeting.

A meeting will be held at 5 PM in the village hall on 5th December 2007 (tonight). Apparently this meeting is for all those walkers and users of the parish footpaths to declare their interests and perhaps volunteer to regularly walk and report on the conditions of adopted sections of the system. Cllr. Peter Burton, the parish footpath officer will introduce the scheme. All those interested are welcome to attend.

Apparently there is a notice in the parish notice boards. Unfortunately no indication of this meeting has been posted on the much neglected and underused parish website. http://www.uplymeparishcouncil.org/index.html

The meeting duly took place but Cllr. Burton said that he was disappointed with the turnout of just ten people and two of them were parish councillors. I did suggest that perhaps this was a result of the lack of advertising of the meeting particularly that there was no mention on the parish website. If this kind of thing canít be put on the website then what is the use of it Question

All the same the volunteers promised to cover all the 57 footpaths and report back by the January parish council meeting. If you feel left out on this exercise I am certain that Cllr. Burton can fit you in somewhere. His phone number can be found on the aforementioned website! Wink
