Well, the digger went to work on Tuesday and the Talbot Arms 'Alley of dreams' is no more.

In fairness, it had probably reached the end if its useful life with trees growing out of one of the walls and the basic fabric requiring more repair work than it was worth. Steve and Wendy have new plans to provide accommodation and the new building has to be smarter than the scruffy old alley.

Even so, there will many locals with memories of skittling uphill in the alley and coming out smelling of tar, of crazy summer beer festivals, of practising morris dancing and of suppporting England in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Older villagers may even recall it being the HQ of the village Home Guard in WW2.

There's no going back now, let's just say...
So long - and thanks for all the pitch!

This was the place of my first job, sticker up 24 years ago. what a shame, especially now as I play for the RBL team and would have liked to play at the Talbot.
