Beacon Knights 0 Uplyme Youth 4
Uplyme Youth continue their comeback.
On a warm, almost windless day, Uplyme kicked off and immediately took up the attack putting Beacon Knights on the defensive. In the second minute Uplyme’s Anthony Simes made a swift run up the centre and got a shot in but it glanced over the bar. Instantly Beacon Knights responded with their first attack but Uplyme’s keeper Brett James came out to prevent score. Uplyme continued their attacks with accurate passing in midfield notably between Tom Chapple and Johnnie Turner and between Simes and Sam Jones. Beacon Knights got their game together later in the first half and Uplyme’s defence had work to do notably with George Heath, with his reliable volleys, clearing the goal area and further back Matt Pile and Jack Fox assisting keeper James. The entertaining first half ended 0 – 0.
The second half began with Beacon Knights taking up the attack in the first few minutes but thanks to a good save by James no score resulted. Later, at the other end, Uplyme’s Kyle Knight shot one over the bar in the ninth minute and three minutes later from a throw in from their own half Uplyme put together numerous passes which ended with Jack Heath chipping the ball over the keeper and scoring. Five minutes later from a defensive position Pile passed the ball to Knight, ran forward, received the ball back from Knight, ran down the left wing past several defenders and from a very tight angle put the ball in the net. At two nil down Beacon Knights came back again but efficient keeping by James prevented any score. Uplyme however kept up their attack and in the twenty third minute Simes booted the ball over most of the opposing defence finding Jones who slotted the ball past the goalie. A minute later, from a free kick, it was Jones again who put in another ball in the net. At the whistle the final score was Beacon Knight 0 Uplyme 4.
Uplyme’s Man of the Match was judged be Matt Pile. Uplyme’s next match is home to the same team at 2.00pm on Sunday 8th March.
