I used to spend a lot of time in Uplyme in the 50's as my grandparents had several properties in the area. My grandfather used to run a car hire business from the village.
Some of the properties I remember are still there and I would love to hear from anyone who live in them now. My email is bgould@dsl.pipex.com.
I remember Spring Cottage just opposite to Ravello. We used to live temporarily in Spring Cottage while my parents were looking after my aunt Augustus who was ill and living in Ravello.
My grandparents also used to live in Pound Cottage before moving to a double fronted bungalow called 'Wendy'. When I last visited, I found the bungalow (confirmed by my father) which was a white double fronted bungalow directly across the road from the Talbot Arms.
I remember my sister and I used to visit regularly and play down by the stream at the bottom of the garden and regularly walk down to Lyme past the old mill to visit the sweet shop. At that time, most of the land surrounding the bungalow used to belong to my grandparents.
