Super starts for both First Team and Reserves in their respective Perry Street leagues.
The Firsts travelled to Dowlish; this team have had an excellent pre-season run of results and will no doubt be in the final shake-up for divisional promotion come April. With only 12 players, it was going to be a challenge for the starting 11, but we stood up terrifically. Smile
Some of our football first half was confident, patient and showed positive signs for the rest of the season. The passing was slick in places and lads like Adam N and Ryan P did a fine job against tougher, bulkier opponents. Indeed, it was Adam who latched onto a through ball and rounded the keeper to take us 1-0 up going into half time- a goal I felt we a)fully deserved and b)needed for the uphill-into-the-wind second half coming up.
We couldn’t have had a better start to that tough second half, though! Once again, Adam did some great work and finished from the tightest of angles to stretch our advantage to 2. Dowlish made their 3 subs early and their football became more direct with the fierce breeze behind. A scrappy corner got them back in the game – not our strong point as a team, even with the best efforts of Stu back there. 10 mins later, they were awarded the softest of penalties and the game was even. Our frustration at that decision was further compounded by their 3rd goal, only minutes later; a quality strike from 25 yards after we lost possession softly. At this point, their managerial support became more vocal, as did some of their players (although I couldn’t understand his abuse, as he still had baby teeth and a lob sided head). They thought they were coasting to a lucky win, but didn’t equate for a great through ball from Jack B, onto which Stu ‘sprang’ and chipped the keeper for a hard fought 3-3 result. We could have pinched all 3 pts if Scholsey had opened his eyes whilst shooting in the last 10 seconds! Laughing

Great start and great promise. Hoping that everyone still is fit for next week, as all games in this league look competitive this season. Well done Rezzies, too!

Sounds good and looks like some of our pre season work on our passing and movement may be paying off. Very pleased that we brought a point home from there even if it could and perhaps should have been all 3!
