There is an avatar gallery but it isnt populated yet i think that it should be or it removed i would be willing to give some avatars to the gallery

There are now a small number of avatars (mostly cartoon based) in the gallery. If you would like to add an avatar to your profile, click on 'profile' at the top and scroll to the bottom of the profile page.
