When I looked at the weather for Lyme on the Uplyme website on Sunday 16th October I could not believe that they could forecast 10 days ahead and say that it will rain on each of those days. Well 10 days later we now know that they were spot on for it did rain on each of those days and then some.

At Rhode Hill we have had 105.2mm (about 4inches) in 10 days, with 91.3mm of that total falling on just 4 of those days.

The actual rainfall for those 10 days was: 22.3mm on 16th, 2.3mm on 17th, 24.1mm on 18th, 1.9mm on 19th, 8.4mm on 20th, 0.3mm on 21st, 0.2mm on 22nd, 27.9mm on 23rd, 17mm on 24th and 1mm on 25th. Please note that the gauge is read at 0900 GMT and is recorded for the previous day. Therefore the 27.9mm recorded for the 23rd was actually read at 1000 BST on the 24th. This is in line with the general practice of the Met Office.

Complete rainfall data for the last five years at Rhode Hill can be found at:

Each month is updated early in the following month.
