PC Chris Turner, at the November parish council meeting, was almost in despair at the continuing speeding on the Uplyme to Yawl road. He has timed drivers in the 30 mph zone at up to 68 mph. One of his opening lines to these people is, “Would you drive at 140 mph on a motorway”. They are shocked by the mere suggestion. He then reminds them that they are doing the equivalent in a 30 mph area.

Interesting. Did Chris say anything about recommending a speed camera, or other measures ?

I still think the legal parking of vehicles in the road at strategic points would have more effect than anything on reducing speeds.

This morning a Highways Department landrover was parked in Lyme Rd while the engineers took measurements of the road slippage. The traffic was much slower than usual.
