Brilliant performance from the boys.
I got there to see the second half, which had its moments of drama. Coomber will fill everyone in on the details, at some point on here.
Max, D R and Anholt were tireless in that half, and Tom it was that fittingly sealed the vital points for us.
We have Lyme Reverses on Tuesday; the Great Escape could still be on....... Shocked

Ok firstly sorry for being so slow in supplying a match report I am clearly no replacement for Gilly! So Saturday was a great team performance. Everyone wore the shirt with a sense of both pride and belief that we could possibly pull ourselves out of this horrible mess that we've got into at the foot of the table. It was a must win game and the boys all knew it. So much so we created a clear cut chance within the first 20 seconds that Gav cleverly steered past the post!

That set the tone as we dominated the majority of possesion and chances, and eventually the break through came through a calm and collected finish from Gav Fowler, after picking the ball up from the edge of the area he simply dribbled in towards the keeper giving himself the maximun space to slot home, which he duely did. However, Chard had their chances, but with a mixture of poor finishing and great goal keeping from young Lloyd Cleal, we retained our slender lead going into the break.

Second half we went at them straight from the off and scored through an acrobatic finish from the impressive Tom Anholt. Chard had a few more half chances, with Lloyd again being called into action and answering some of the questions that have unfairly been asked of him lately with some solid goalkeeping, and some great dominance in the area. Gav soon made it 3-0 to the Uplyme and we were cruising! 18 minutes left on the clock and we thought we had it wrapped up, then all of a sudden disatser struck, within two minutes it was 3-2. First the referee wrongly awarded a penalty after judging a ball that clearly hit an Uplyme backside to be handball. Lloyd very nearly kept it out but it was struck too hard to be saved. Then 2 minutes later Chard had a free kick about 30 yards out and the taker in all fairness stuck it so sweet even Beckham would have been proud of it, we could do nothing!

So somehow from 3-0 and crusing it was 3-2 with 15 minutes left and we were hanging on! Then after a reality check, realising we were and are by far the better team we played some intricate football allowing Tom to calming stick in our 4th and effectivily end the game. What a relief a very hard fought out 3 points and an excellent overall team effort. Special recognision for Dave Robinson and Max Borgeat in the middle of midfield who deputised brilliantly for our missing skipper Gilly. Also special mention to the Ref, don't know who he was but he was awesome, if we had him every week we would not be where we are in the league! Other than giving that penalty that never should have been, he was spot on all afternoon. What a refreshing change that was!
