Now that the Victoria Hotel is closed Sad where is everybody going now for special meals?

Perhaps if readers could write in with recommendations or warnings, we could come up with a 'recommended eating' guide ?

Some establishments (in no particular order) within a 15 minute drive might include:-

Rumours, Lyme
The Broad Street, Lyme
Jurassic Seafood, Lyme
Harbour Inn, Lyme
Mariners Hotel, Lyme
The Anchor, Burton Bradstock,
The Riverside, West Bay,
The George, Chardstock

Anyone eaten at any of the above ?
Good ? Smile
Bad ? Mad
Indifferent ? Confused

Come on Foodies - spill the beans ! (Just click 'PostReply' above)

We ate at Lal Quilla in Lyme on Saturday night with another couple.

We had booked, but despite us being a minute or two late, our table was not quite ready when we arrived. They were obviously really busy with both sit-ins and takeaways and we only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated.

Considering they were so busy, the food was served reasonably promptly and was delicious. My danzak was well crafted with not-excessive heat balanced by the fruity sharpness of tamarind and the heady scent of Coriander. Probably as good a curry as I have had anywhere outside of London.

The Lal Quilla is not licensed since the new licensing arrangements came in, so you are encouraged to bring your own booze. The waiter happily provided glasses and opened wine bottles for us.

The staff were pleasant and attentive and if I really had to complain about anything at all, I would say that the Nan was a little on the skinny side.
