I would like to recommend the ' New Look ' post office and stores in the village , I think we should all commend and thank Mark , the new owner for providing us all with a cracking shop . With bread from Lymes town mill and fresh local meat , eggs , and veg , the shop is a real asset to the village of Uplyme. |

I would completely agree Andy. Mark Holmes has done wonders with a relatively small space and hopefully made the Post Office and Stores stronger, more profitable and able to withstand the current government's policy of closing rural Post Offices with disregard for the public service they offer (often isolated) communities.
I know we don't all do all of our shopping there, but the Post Office is an absolute boon for top-up shopping and for spur of the moment purchases and for fresh local produce not to mention newspapers and postal services.
Remember - USE IT OR LOSE IT - actually means that if you don't shop there for at least some of your requirements don't be surprised if one day it has vanished and been turned into something much less useful.
Remember...
Our village once had 3 pubs (Black Dog, New Inn, Talbot) now there's only one.
A large hotel (The Devon Hotel) now gone.
A butchers/off licence (PTB's) now gone.
A general stores (Near New Inn), now gone.
A Post Office, still here - but for how long ?? Well, that's up to you.
