MATCH REPORT Ė SUNDAY 28TH OCTOBER

CHAIRMANíS CUP QUARTER FINAL

OTTERY ST MARY U13íS 4 v UPLYME YOUTH 1 aet.

This was a highly entertaining and competitive league cup clash between the teams lying first and second in the table.

Uplyme enjoyed the early territorial advantage and took the lead after eight minutes through Jack Heath.

Ottery equalised three minutes later, capitalising on an unfortunate deflection in the Uplyme defence.

There were further chances for both sides in the first half though defences came out on top and the scores remained level at half time.

The second half was end to end and highly entertaining. Despite good passing and attacking movements from both sides neither team could make a breakthrough and the tie finished level after normal time.

Three minutes into added time Ottery took the lead with a crisp low shot from inside the penalty area. Uplyme responded with a great long range dipping shot from Josh Armytage which dropped just over the far corner of the goal.

Uplyme fought valiantly for an equaliser in the second half of extra time but could not pierce the Ottery defence. With their defence overstretched and tiring, Uplyme conceded two further goals in the closing minutes which resulted in a final scoreline not reflecting the closeness of the encounter.

Sam Jones was awarded Uplymeís man of the match award for a commanding and energetic captainís display in midfield.
