The much welcome song of the first singing chiffchaff of the spring appeared in my garden this morning. It is reassuring, as Ted Hughes said in his poem "Swifts", that the planet is still working. But for how long!

I often wonder how widespread across the parish or beyond is the first arrival of these summer visitors. Did you hear this harbinger of spring today or perhaps a few days ago? I would like to know.
