My grandfather, Edwrad Topple, lived in Uplyme until his death in August 1951. The address given on his death certificate is Myrtle Cottage, Uplyme.

My husband and I recently had a holiday in Uplyme and we stayed in Myrtle Cottage in Church Street, which I believed to be the cottage which my grandfather had once lived in. However, one evening during our holiday we went out for a stroll and discovered another Myrtle Cottage in Venlake Lane, which then made me wonder if we had actually stayed in my grandfather's cottage.

The informant on the death certificate was Richard Bradbrook. The obituary in the August 1951 Pulman Weekly, written by my grandfather's widow, Ellen Topple, refers to their cottage as The Myrtles.

I realise this happened a long time ago, but would be very grateful if anyone could shed any light on this, and in fact if anyone has any recollection of the Topples.

Thank you.
