Has any one any thoughts about a cafe in Uplyme? Firstly, a bunch from the church were suggesting that it is something Uplyme could do with and secondly, I have some friends who would be interested in running one! The problem with Uplyme is there are few or no suitable venues. Any ideas?

I heard (and it might just be hearsay) that the old post office is suffering from subsidence and they failed to get planning permission to redevelop...

Sounds like a good idea in principle - a church fund raiser presumably ?

Also, presumably you are talking about a Summer only type cafe ? I can't imagine there is enough local or passing trade the rest of the year to make it pay.

The Village Hall would make a good venue during the Summer holidays (ie school/playgoup etc not using it) decent kitchen, handy carpark, beside main road etc.
