DEAR PARENTS, SCOUTS & FRIENDS of BADEN POWELL LYME BAY SCOUTS
Hi & Welcome to our 20th Newsletter! We have a fun packed Spring in store. Please read our Jam-Packed Fun & Scouty Progamme & make sure you pass on a copy to anyone who is interested in outdoor fun & traditional scouting. So far we have done;
CHARMOUTH TUNNEL RANGES.

What a fantastic time we all had at the charmouth Tunnel ranges, all the scouts got to shoot air rilfes & pistols & also had a crack a .22mm rifles as well, the staff there are great & the whole facility is very well set-up, we will most definitely be going back. A special thank you to Richard Clist owner & ranges master for a 1st class evening! Please see; www.thetunnel.co.uk for full details of facilities
KNIFE HANDLING & SAFETY SKILLS

We've also began our knife handling & sharpening lessons again, the scouts got to have a go sharpening a pen knife, care of knifes, safe handling & passing, & a practice of whittling skills, later in the programme we will be making a "spreading knife" from silver birch!
FIRST AID:
All scouts learned the basics of casualty recognition, checking for breathing, loosening clothing round the neck, checking for pulse, carotid & brachial, how & when to administer CPR, calling for help. Also practiced applying a sling, bandaging a wound, casualty evacuation, different kinds of human carry, firemans lift, 2 person carry, 1 person assistance, & and many, many more (gosh did we cram all that ito 2 hours??)

SUBS: We've got the lowest Scout Subs around at £1.82 / session, great value we think. As always the FIRST Couple of Sessions are FREE as a taster, So come along, you will enjoy it more than you think ! ! WE'RE GROWING! We now have 18+ Scouts & we will have to start a new patrol soon, as both Eagle & Seal patrols are FULL! We are starting our 3rd patrol this week, Bull Patrol, as we now have over 19 scouts! (we must be doing something right Very Happy

Want to get involved? We've need for 2 Assistant Scout Masters & 2 Lay-Helpers, Contact Ed Blundell: 01297 444 037 or: 07857-905-464 for full details.

Warmest Regards to you all & See You at SCOUTS !

Yes, we had a fab time, it was such a great way to introduce the scouts to hand guns & rifles in a safe & calm manner. Hopefully taking a way some the almost magical allure that some kids have about guns, & replacing it with reality. Richard was really great with the scouts, an excellent instructor!

Even in the short time they had there, we ended up with some really good target scores, with a bit more practice we could be producing some absolutely cracking good shots! Perhaps in time for the 2016 Olympics?

What a great facility right on our doorstep, I would encourage everyone to go along, you never know, you could end up with a great new hobby!
