The issue of traffic problems at Woodroffe have been raised again in the local press. Is there a solution to the problem ? Or, as Councillor Terry O'Grady suggests, will it take the death of a child before something is done ?
“None of these parents are going to take a blind bit of notice of parking restrictions until a child gets run over.”

Here is the full article in the LR News:

What does the panel think ?

OK, first a declaration of interest, I'm a LR Town Council and Chairman of the Planning and Highways committee but I was away for this debate.

Can something be done? Yes, it's very simple. Parents can stop parking there and causing a hazard. Parents can take responsibility for the safety of their children and others rather than regarding it as "somebody else's problem" which "they" should solve.

Will double yellow lines help? Probably not, not unless Dorset Police have an officer free twice a day to stand there and enforce them.

T'was of course less a problem in my day when we all dragged ourselves to school on our own two legs and would have been laughed at for suggesting our parents might drive us to school Very Happy (and yes I know times change, people live away from the school etc. etc.)
