THIS SUMMER WE'VE BEEN PRACTICING OUT DOOR SKILLS LIKE FIRELIGHTING, TENDING A CAMP FIRE & CAMPFIRE COOKING SKILLS Our Troop has grown to 30 Uniformed Scouts & 5 tenderfoot scouts! So far our Scouts have learned & practiced the following skills:

> tending a camp fire, fire safety, methods of care, etc
> lighting a camp fire, from scratch, with only matches or flint & steel
> making kindling, preparing fire wood, chopping, sawing etc.
> wild food foraging, wild garlic, jack by the hedge, nettles,
> cooking wild food, all above cooked over a camp fire, in a light batter, lovely!
> Practicing knots & lashings (see images below)

14 jun: swimming, Scout Swimming test for those that have not done it (TBC)
21 jun: hike 2hrs, with map-reading, compass reading, taking bearings (margarets' wood)
28 jun: staff making, marking, rope, use in measuring etc (margarets' wood)
5 jul first aid with st. john's ambulance (TBC)
12 jul: Climbing & Abseiling (Location TBC)
19 July Fun / Badge evening (margarets' wood)

We've got really low Scout Subs: 1.82/session (25.00/term) great value we think. The FIRST Couple of Sessions are FREE as a taster, ages 10-18, boys & girls, come along, you'll enjoy it we think! All Uniform provided FREE. Our Group Area is Huge! we've scouts from Uplyme, Charmouth, Axminster, Bridport, LymeRegis, Seaton, Rousden, Musbury, Colyton, Hawkchurch, Thorncombe & Kilmington even!

Scoutmaster's & Lay-Helpers: we're growing at a huge rate! We want to keep growing & offering Traditional Scouting to as many as possible. Do you like the outdoors, enjoy teaching & passing on skills to others, give us a try, it is very Rewarding & Fun!
